October 2022 - The Witching Hour Halloween Special


    It's need a full year since I been doing these type of mixes, last year was the Subterranean Halloween mix set, sadly at the time, The Witching Hour wasn't a concept in my mind until the following month. This would be the first proper The Witching Hour Halloween event. Mix set features some classic tunes as well as some current new music fitting for the spooky season as well as some unconventional songs.

    I don't post as much death metal as I would like too within my mixes but I'm glad I these two made it onto this special and first of it's kind mix I have done. Haunted is a death metal band from the early 90's, completely underrated with their first self-titled album having a dark horror-like tone with a dark ambient atmospheric intro. With recent times the band reformed and released newer material. The track featured within the mix is from their second release which adds more horror-synth based interludes and a heavy occult-like song structure. The Legion of Maleficence is an impressive album which was released in 2020.

    
    Another death metal track that made it onto the Halloween mix is none other than the incredible talents of Slasher Dave and company with Acid Witch. This track within it from their latest release just in time for the holiday season, Rot Among Us. This would be the band's fourth LP since 2017's Evil Sound Screamers.
    
    What is also making the rounds this year around this time are a bunch of dungeon synth and dark ambient releases being put out on October. Cimitir and Pumpkin Witch especially. Which to be honest not a lot of people even had a clue that Pumpkin Witch was coming out with a new LP given 2019's Final Strike of the Pumpkin Witch when people assumed the mysterious group called it quits. Very glad they are back with their new LP, The Return of the Pumpkin Witch.
    
    Grief, Christ would be sort of out of place considering it's a goth band but I myself consider that fits given the sound production. It's very raw and dirty sounding lo-fi goth.

    Along the mix is your usually affair of black metal bands, one I'm proud to present is Poterwytch which is the black metal answer to Acid Witch. Their latest was a split album with Psychedelic Black Metal band Medwegya.

      Mistress is back after a brief hiatus. There was so much new music to cover in goth, industrial and metal, so much. Not to mention anniversaries of certain releases, events and such forth. Halloween 2024 - Subterranean

October 2022 - Subterranean Halloween Special

      This is probably my most ambitious mix I have ever done. This also marks 1 year since I been doing this and this has been a long wonderful journey. This massive mega Halloween mix is split into blocks. Consisting with the first block of Halloween goth classics which is followed by part two of the mix which is all new goth tunes for the month. The third segment is filled with Halloween industrial tunes. The final part of this mega mix is the dark metal portion. I use dark metal as a general term of course. This part will consist of higher production black metal to gothic metal to maybe even some death metal .
