The Witching Hour October 2023 Halloween Special

Image
I honestly didnt plan on making this. This was a spur of the moment as it's been too long without a Witching Hour mix set. What better time to make one than on the eve of Halloween! This is an assortment of tracks that are recently new or at least most of them. Enjoy.       No intro this time, we dive straight into the mix with tunes directly from the vault. A classic line up of goth from Bauhaus , Astrovamps to London After Midnight and new current classics like Cemetery Echo or Unto Others.  The mix is interlaced with horror movie trailers and dialogue samples ripped straight from the films along with other spooky surprises for all 3 portions as it spans a little over 7 whole hours of shrieks and other spine chilling horror.     The classic line ups are followed by new music within all three portions. In the goth segment we got new music by Anders Manga and a current favorite of mine is Dwell in Doom who has not only been pumping out music like a fiend but every year he has a new Halloween track to offer . And I must say I really look forward to those. This year's Halloween track is " Ghost Child" from his new album which is currently out, Gothic Mass . This band is strongly recommended for fans of Tiamat with a dash of Type O

Mistress is back at it with another meg mix. This time covering new music from the end of June to the first week of September. Included are also some anniversaries from certain releases I wanted to touch upon. Also get used to Abandoned Toys ' track Where Tides Defy the Moon as I will be using it in the future going forward. Made me think, other DJs and/or podcasters use them, why not me? Plus it's a very excellent song. And as always, citing credit where credit is due.     The goth portion of the mix as always features new music from modern goth scene legends Drab Majesty , Edo and more. What I really want to highlight on is a brand new deathrock band, The Grotesques , spearheaded by none other than Duchess Grotesque . Her influences consists of  Deadchovsky / Cinema Strange , Phantom Limbs and Suspiria . As of right now, there is no official bandcamp yet at the time of this blog entry release. Please support this new band as I feel there are many great things that aw

Mistress is back after a brief hiatus. There was so much new music to cover in goth, industrial and metal, so much. Not to mention anniversaries of certain releases, events and such forth. You might of noticed the cover of this Subterranean mega mix which I will talk about later.      I think I found the theme song for this mix set and going forward their the intro track by Abandoned Toys , wonderful neoclassical project with a very gothic atmospheric sound with their song Where Tides Defy the Moon . Be prepared to hear it again on upcoming Subterranean mix sets . Now we do have new music from Velvet Wounds , Dalias which is a new act from Chile. And of course we got more new music from Ritual Howls and more.       After a good dose of post punk to start us off with I wanted to touch upon a special block interrupting our normal routine to introduce this Rozz Williams block. The anniversary of his suicide came and went this past April 1st. There are some classics there from th

I can always count on SwissDarkNights and Bat-Cave Productions to lay down a batch of goth albums whether is be new or recurring acts. Bands from both labels are featured on here from Reflection Black , Long Night to Shrouds , Cult Strange and more. Digital releases are a bit pricey but that is so you will have to order the physical release which is a nice but sadly I live in the US and the shipping is going to kill my wallet. But enough of that little rant, Astari Nite just released a new single with " Bowie in Daydreams ". The band is currently on a US tour and hopefully we will be able to hear more new music from the group. I featured Spanish darkwave/deathrock band Malefixio some months ago with their latest release Magia Ceremonial . For those that want a physical release of said album it is now possible as Psychic Eye , an indie label that specializes in goth, electronic and experimental music is handling the distribution of the LP for US audiences.
