October: Halloween Special - Subterranean 2023
No intro this time, we dive straight into the mix with tunes directly from the vault. A classic line up of goth from Bauhaus, Astrovamps to London After Midnight and new current classics like Cemetery Echo or Unto Others. The mix is interlaced with horror movie trailers and dialogue samples ripped straight from the films along with other spooky surprises for all 3 portions as it spans a little over 7 whole hours of shrieks and other spine chilling horror.
The classic line ups are followed by new music within all three portions. In the goth segment we got new music by Anders Manga and a current favorite of mine is Dwell in Doom who has not only been pumping out music like a fiend but every year he has a new Halloween track to offer. And I must say I really look forward to those. This year's Halloween track is "Ghost Child" from his new album which is currently out, Gothic Mass. This band is strongly recommended for fans of Tiamat with a dash of Type O Negative.
New music also included is from The Grotesques, brand new upcoming deathrock band. Look out for them as they do not have a bandcamp yet. Please support the band once they are out, this is the newest track from the Dead of Night EP. Oscura Daemonia is another great deathrock band from Mexico to look out for. Blending harsh vocals with darkwave and hints of industrial, this deathrock band's sound is quite unique. Look out for their Hymns of Darkness LP.
Within the industrial segment it's tradition to play Ministry's "Everyday is Halloween" of course during this time. Also included amongst the classic line up is a favorite of mine and a version people do not know about, SPF 1000's "Haunted House" demo from their Love is Dead, Have A Nice Day demo release. Rob Zombie was even included due to his debut album Hellbilly Deluxe hit 25 years recently.
Any new music within the mid portion includes cEvin Key, Choke Chain and Vindicating Twilight who debuts her newest track within this mix. Single is from an upcoming album of hers. Look out for that on her bandcamp.
There is some excellent industrial metal near the end of the industrial segment with a brand spanking new track from Static-X from the upcoming Z0mbie EP as well as Swedish group Morlocks. For fans of KMFDM. And we have Ash Prison, up and coming new industrial metal act currently signed onto Sentient Ruin who has been hitting it out of the park with these industrial releases. Support the label, they are awesome.
Classic metal line up includes many returning favorites of mine from Cradle of Filth, Emperor, Samael and such. But we got new classic bands making it to the line up that didnt make it last time like Old Corpse Road, Lamia Antitheus who deserved so much better back when they were active, Entombed and much more.
October Tide recently came out with their newest LP, The Cancer Pledge as well as other bands like the return of Paradise Lost with their "Widow" single straight from the re-recorded album of Icon 30. But the biggest surprise of the year is probably Cultus Sanguine back with an entire full length album since the bands departure.
Reformed back in 2018 and for a couple of years nothing about any new record until now. Released through Russian label BadMoonMan Music in September 1st. Legendary gothic metal band Cultus Sanguine is back!
